unidual What a trip. I almost forgot how extraordinarily excellent and excellently extraordinary it was.

Some clear Arcturus influence (e.g. Palindrome), but a lot of personal touch as well.

The best Aenaon so far?

Doug Hembree if there's anything I want out of black metal music, I think it'd be this album. I'm not normally a fan of the genre, but Aenaon bring some unique thrills with their dark, Lynchian Jazz infused, entrancing sound. Even the roaring vocals seem to convey a sense of madness throughout this lucid-nightmare of an album. Favorite track: Earth Tomb.

GWW This band gets better and better with each release. No filler, killer Black Metal. They integrate the sax in a tremendous way. If you like this, check out Yakuza! Favorite track: Phronesis - Psychomagic.

Aimfri Cheesy in the best of ways, kind of like Arcturus' "The Sham Mirrors" was. A unique blend of multiple influences, constantly clever and fun. For listeners of Dodheimsgard, Shining(No), Emperor, SepticFlesh and Powerwolf. Favorite track: Fire Walk With Me.

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
